Procedures for Placing Text Advertisements

As text advertisements are becoming one of the more popular forms of paid online advertising, many new web owners wonder how to get into the field. Look for a site selling text links that has a content related to your own site. The readers of a related site are going to be more likely to be interested in your site and to click on your ad. Look for websites that rank high for the keywords to which your site is related.

When searching for a keyword related site, try to stick to the main keyword that is attached to your site. This is the keyword with which you would like to have high ranking. Do not forget to look at sites that have related keywords though, as they can be good for advertising as well.

Once you find a site, they may or may not have an online form to allow you to buy your ad.

Another idea to help you buy text links is to use a text link ad broker. An ad broker works as a go between for the link buyers and sellers. Using a broker allows you to place bids for your advertisement or buy it outright. Consider if you want to work with a broker on a monthly or yearly basis. Keep in mind that your broker is going to get a commission of the sale. This might increase the cost of your advertising, but if you are not comfortable in this field, or if you have time constraints, this is a good way to delegate some of the work.

How Google is Complicating Things

Google is trying to not award page rank to sites that are paying for advertisements. This is difficult to accomplish, because Google has a hard time distinguishing between paid text links and other types of links. They have started delaying the appearance of new websites in the search engine in order to look on the site for paid text links. This delay is particularly frustrating for new website owners and developers.

One problem with Google´s stand is that they really cannot distinguish well between innocent links and the paid ads they want to avoid. Sometimes innocent links are incorrectly ignored by Google, simply because they look like paid ads. This is a problem that Google and other major search engines are constantly looking to improve.

However, Google has not yet figured out the perfect way to eliminate counting paid online advertising in their page ranks. So for now, online advertising sales continue, as well-placed web ads are able to raise the rank of sites in the search engines. The question being raised is how long text advertisements will help page rank. No one knows for sure!
