Use Email Marketing to Maximize Your Online Campaign

If you have an email account, you have been exposed to HTML email marketing. These are the emails that you get from businesses that try to get you to their site. Is the use of email marketing lists an effective way to advertise? Mass email marketing can be effective, if done correctly.

How Does Bulk Email Advertising Work?

The goals of Internet email marketing are the same as any online advertising campaign - to get click throughs, to draw people to your site, and to have a branding effect with your service or product (exposing potential customers to your name and logo so they will opt for your product in the future based on memory and recognition.)

When creating a targeted email advertising program, your goal is to have something in the body of the email to appeal to your customer and to get them to click through to your site. The wording is the key. If you make your wording appealing and urgent, you can create some click throughs with mass email marketing. This is basically the Internet equivalent of the bulk paper mail we receive every day in our post office boxes.

One problem with HTML email marketing is that it has received a bad reputation. Many online companies have become too intrusive with their email, and many Internet users are tired of receiving unwanted spam emails. As a result, many email clients have installed spam filters so that advertising messages never reach potential clients. Not only that, but some people are also leery of opening unknown emails due to the threat of viruses. However, if planned correctly, a bulk email advertising campaign can have a successful role to play in your online advertising plan. Used in conjunction with other advertising options, mass email marketing can be a good source to generate new customers.

How to Be Responsible with Email Marketing

One of the problems with Internet email marketing is the prevalence of spam, which is the slang term for unwanted, unsolicited emails. In order to have a successful marketing program using email, you must behave responsibly.

First, make sure the subject lines of your emails are accurate portrayals of what the email contains. Do not try to deceive your readers by making your email look like a personal email. Internet users do not like to be tricked, and all you will succeed in doing is alienating potential customers.

Once the email is opened, make sure it has an accurate header that allows the customer to trace the email back to its point of origin. Make sure they know who you are! Provide a logo or some other feature that clearly says who you are and why you are contacting them.

Make sure that your email includes some physical contact information, such as an address or telephone number. Not only will this make you look legitimate, but it might also help you draw customers to your store or your phone service.

Finally, give customers the option to opt out of your advertising campaign. This is the law of the Internet! Make sure you keep up with people who request to opt out of the campaign. Nothing will alienate potential customers faster than keeping them in an email campaign when they´ve asked not to be bothered with additional messages. This will get you blacklisted faster than anything!
